Cardi B Is Feisty and Ready for Summer on ‘Outside’

Cardi Bwants to shake it all summer! On Friday, the rap star released “Outside,” her first solo single of the year, which she says channels a feistier version of herself, who was a tad angrier than she is today.

“If y’all wouldn’t have asked for it, I wouldn’t have put it out. I made this song a few months ago when I was very, very angry,” Cardi said in an Instagram Story. “I had to change some bars because I was angry, honey.”

On the song, Cardi sings about hooking up with some hotties including a basketball player: “I’m so small and tiny, he so big and tall/Might let him dunk this pussy like he dunk the ball,” she raps in one part.

Cardi debuted the song earlier this week at Spotify’s Cannes Beach event. On her IG, the rapper thanked her fans for their support, adding that she was “very surprised and shocked” by how much love “Outside” was getting after she debuted it live. “We outside all summer. It doesn’t matter if you’re fucking pregnant,” Cardi joked.Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

Earlier this year, Cardi joined Pardison Fontaine on“Toot It Up”in February, and she joined DJ Khaled, Desi Trill, Natania, andSubhi on “Higher Love”from theSmurfssoundtrack.

Cardi opened up in an Instagram Live in May that she wasdelaying her albumas she secures her features. “I really need these fucking features,” Cardi said at the time. “I’m not really trying to press or go crazy on these artists because I love them down. But it’s like come on now, I need that. I need that right now. Y’all don’t want to miss this opportunity.”

Karol G Daydreams She Is a Bilingual Vedette in ‘Papasito’ Video

Karol Gis expanding her sound into all sorts of unexpected avenues with her latest albumTropicoqueta. On “Papasito,” the singer folds in English lyrics into the fun, crafting a merengue track about a Latina trying to win an American man’s heart.

The video follows the same story. In it, Karol daydreams that she is a Latina vedette head-over-heels in love with an American man, played by Danny Ramirez. “Papasito, ay, que rico tú, I want you and not just for a little,” she sings over merengue beats. Karol’s mother, Martha Navarro, also makes a cameo appearance at the end when Karol wakes up from her dream. In anInstagram postcelebrating the video’s release, Karol wrote: “This video visually summarizes the magic, joy, nostalgia, love, color, passion of this album.”

Karol sports a golden two-piece adorned with matching gold beads in an homage to the Latina showgirls who inspiredTropicoqueta. “The visual narrative ofTropicoquetais inspired by the Latina vedettes from many years ago, who were criticized a lot because they used their bodies to put on a show,” Karol said in an extensive interview withRolling Stone.Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

In the same interview, the Colombian singer also shared why she decided to partially write the song in English. “It’s a techno merengue that I wrote in Spanish at first but then I thought why not make it in English? I liked the idea of doing that because when we were on the U.S. tour, I realized that there are so many Latinos whose first language is English,” she said, adding, “I want them to be able to hear themselves in that song.”

This isn’t Karol’s first foray into English-language music. Back in 2021, the Colombian singer teamed up with Tiësto to release the dance-pop hit “Don’t Be Shy,” which was later featured on the DJ’s 2023 albumDrive. However, “Papasito” does mark Karol’s first solo track to incorporate the English language — with a little twist that stays true to the singer’s Colombian roots. “Even though it’s in English, it’s not how an American artist would sound,” she toldRS. “It has my mega-accent and is simply howKarol Gwould sound if she made a song in English.”

Dr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces Retirement

The pop culture universe became significantly less demented on Friday when Barret Hansen, aka Dr. Demento, announced his retirement after 55 years of playing novelty songs on the airwaves. “It’s been a blast,” he wrote in a message to fans, “but I have come to the decision that I need to hang up my top hat soon.”

Throughout the course of his long career, Demento introduced several fantastically silly songs into the public consciousness, including “Fish Heads” by the comedy duo Barnes and Barns, and “Shaving Cream” by Benny Bell.

But his greatest achievement took place in 1976 when he dug out a cassette mailed into him by a 16-year-old high school student named Alfred Yankovic, and played his homemade song “Belvedere Cruisin'” on the national airwaves. “When I first got this tape, it had nothing written on it,” Dr. Demento said in Weird Al’sBehind The Music. “It was a song that Al wrote about driving around the streets of Lynwood in his parent’s Plymouth Belvedere.”

Hearing his song on the radio was one of the most stunning moments in Yankovic’s life. “I just went nuts,” he said. “I ran around the house screaming. I couldn’t believe it.” Yankovic kept submitting songs, and was a mainstay on the program by the time he became a student at California Polytechnic State University. Early classics like “My Bologna” and “Another One Rides The Bus” were first heard on the Dr. Demento show, and Yankovic has often credited the DJ with not only launching his entire career, but inspiring him to record parody songs in the first place. In the 2022 mock biopicWeird: The Al Yankovic Story, Dr. Demento was played by Rainn Wilson.

Before he first put on a top hat and called himself Dr. Demento, Hansen was a regular contributor toRolling Stone.  In August 1968,he reviewed the Sly and the Family Stone albumLife.“Sly and the Family Stone are opening the door to a whole new era in soul music,” he wrote. “With their emphasis on flash, on never-let-up entertainment of the senses rather than on the orderly telling of a story, they might well be the first McLuhanian soul group.”Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

In a2017 interview with Mark Dago,Hansen explained how he picks the songs he plays on his show. “Over forty-plus years I’ve developed a feeling for what my listeners will probably like,” he said. “It’s very subjective. No hard and fast rules. It helps if the lyrics are funny, of course, and it’s best if they establish themselves as being funny rather quickly. It helps if the music is listenable, especially if the performer has feeling and what one might call charisma. Of course, now and then there’s something that’s so bad that it’s funny on account of that. Some people cherish music like that, but I find a little of it goes a long way.”

The final Dr. Demento broadcasts will consist of archival material from the course of his long career.

Gray and Slayyyter join in for verses, with Slayyyter declaring, “No guest list shit, I walk in the club while everybody still outside / Big comeback like Jesus’ resurrection. The song is a full-circle moment for Slayyyter, who credits Kesha for being the reason she makes music. “My music would not exist without Kesha’s Sleazy remix,” Slayyyter wrote after the song dropped. “I can’t believe we’re on the same track. Dreams came true today.”

Both Gray are Slayyyter are set to be openers for Kesha’s upcoming Tits Out Tour with Scissor Sisters, which kicks off in July, shortly after Kesha drops her upcoming albm.

Machine Gun Kelly Jokes He Got Bob Dylan to Do His Album Trailer Through ‘Pure Desperation’

Machine Gun Kellyhas officially confirmed the obvious — that it wasBob Dylan narrating his recent album announcementtrailer. But in Dylan-esque fashion, MGK declined to give a straight answer as to how the collaboration came about.

When asked point blank about Dylan’s cameo onToday, MGK quipped, “A magician never reveals his secrets.” He then continued with something resembling an answer, but still clearly jokey: “Pure desperation. Just knocking on his door relentlessly, not going away.”

That’s not to say Machine Gun Kelly wasn’t extremely grateful for Dylan’s contribution to theLost Americanatrailer. “I have been blessed with… I don’t know, maybe it’s just one pioneer seeing something that I am doing that, in the long term, will be looked back [at] and be understood,” MGK said, before quickly adding: “Not calling myself a pioneer, but him.”

Despite not knowing many specifics, it is possible to paint a pretty broad picture of the MGK-Dylan relationship. Earlier this year, Dylan, seemingly out of nowhere, posted on a videoon Instagram of MGK rapping at a record store. One (very believable) theory as to how the singer-songwriter stumbled across the clip in the first place was floated by Dylan scholar Ray Padgett, who suggested onBluesky, “All because the dude has the same name as anold gangsterBob was googling.”

Then in May, evidence emerged of an in-person meeting when MGK attended the Los Angeles stop ofWillie Nelson’s Outlaw Festival Tour, which Dylan is a part of. The day after the show, MGKtweetednot-so-cryptically, “i met and had a conversation with someone last night that i never thought i’d get the honor to meet all because of a video of me rapping in a music store 10 years ago. i love music.”Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

MGK released theLost Americanatrailer earlier this month. The clip features a montage of home movie-style footage, with Dylan delivering koans such as, “Lost Americanais a personal excavation of the American dream — a journey to find what’s been lost” and, “From the gold neon diners to the rumble of the motorcycles, this is music that celebrates the beauty found in the in-between spaces. Where the past is reimagined and the future is forged on your own terms.”

Lost Americanais set to arrive Aug. 8. The album marks MGK’s first in three years following 2022’sMainstream Sellout. The musician has yet to reveal the full track list for the album, but it will feature hisrecent single, “Cliché.”

Katseye Cat-Fight Over Jessica Alba’s ‘Gabriela’ in Telenovela-Inspired Video

The girls ofKatseyeare leaning into the fake drama fans often pit them in for their new “Gabriela” music video. On Friday, the six-piece group released the visual for their new single, which sees them fiercely competing to become the successor to a company CEO, played byJessica Alba.

“It was the most fun we’ve ever had shooting a music video. We might all have scars from the fighting scenes, but it was so worth it,” Manon tellsRolling Stone. “We were able to fully step into a new character and not be ourselves and just play on this little narrative that some people have of us, that we all hate each other. It was fun to make fun of that a little bit.”

“We were rehearsing those fighting scenes. We didn’t even have to, but every day, in the middle of rehearsal, we would be like, ‘Megan, come over here, I’m going to punch you,'” adds Sophia. “We couldn’t stop laughing.”

“We’re fighting for our lives to not laugh,” continues Lara.

The video follows the members of Katseye as chaos unfolds, as the girls fight over who should become the next CEO of Alba’s company. “We were like, ‘Wow, we’re such good actresses.’ And then Jessica Alba came in and this is a real actress,” says Sophia. “This is her life, and when she came in, we were like, ‘Shit, we all suck.That’sacting.’ We were all like, ‘Period!'”

After battling for the CEO position, the video spirals into a fever-dream-like sequence, with the group members fighting over a mannequin, throwing vases and food at each other in true telenovela fashion.Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

“I feel like the song is about paying homage to telenovelas and Latin culture and for me, it’s honestly such a big opportunity,” says Daniela, who’s Cuban, and sings the song’s chorusen español. “I feel very honored to be able to sing in my native language and just connect with our Latino fans and that community a little bit more.”

The video for “Gabriela” comes a week before the group — comprising Lara, Sophia, Manon, Daniela, Yoonchae, and Megan — is set to release their sophomore EP,Beautiful Chaos, next Friday.

Bonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, ‘Not Announcing Future Dates’

Bonnarooorganizers are addressing fan blowback regarding refunds for thecanceled 2025 installmentof the festival, which was cut short by rain last weekend. They’re also refraining from announcing future dates of the Manchester, Tennessee, fest.

“We want you to know that were still listening and actively discussing plans to improve The Farm that we love so much. At this time, we will not be announcing future dates,” a statement read on the festival’s social media.

A post shared by Bonnaroo (@bonnaroo)

Originally, Bonnaroo pledged to refund 75 percent of festivalgoers’ ticket purchase amount after rains flooded the four-day camping weekend after just one full day of music. Fans voiced their unhappiness with that proposal online, with many signing a petition demanding a full refund.

While the campaign apparently worked, the future of the festival is now cloudy. “When plans for the future take shape, you all be the first to know,” the statement read.

Along with Luke Combs, who performed last Thursday on the first day of the fest, Bonnaroo 2025 was to beheadlinedby Tyler, the Creator, Olivia Rodrigo, and Hozier. Of the headliners, only Combs was able to perform, delivering a set that included guest appearances by Miranda Lambert, Jon Bellion, and Marcus King. Wisp, the Droptines, the Lemon Twigs, Die Spitz, Daniel Donato, and the Insane Clown Posse also performed on Thursday.

The cancellation marks the second time in four years that organizers have been forced to cancel Bonnaroo because of weather. “Everyone who works on this show loves Bonnaroo deeply,” Bonnaroo organizers wrote in Friday’s lengthy statement. “Some of us have been here since the early years, some were fans first, and some are new but fell in love with it as soon as they felt your energy and spirit on The Farm. We look forward to this show all year. It’s what reenergizes us and restores our faith in community every single summer.

“Our main goal is to give you the most memorable weekend of your lives every year. This cancellation broke our hearts beyond measure, but we knew it had to happen for your safety. Thank you for your patience and perseverance through this difficult situation.”

ThroughoutDua Lipa’s recent tour of Down Under, the singercovereda different Australian artist every show. That tradition continued Friday as her Radical Optimism tour came to London, with Dua Lipa bringing outJamiroquaito perform that band’s 1996 hit “Virtual Insanity.”

“It feels really, really special to be here tonight,” Lipa told the sold-out Wembley Stadium crowd. “It is 10 years since our first ever London show to about 350 people, and I just dreamt of a night like this where I get to be in front of 70,000 people.”

Lipa then added that for her London gig, she wanted to bring out an artist who “inspired” her and “someone who has really been a trailblazer for British music and has really paved the way.”

“The one of one, the only, give it up as loud as you fucking can, give it up for Jamiroquai,” Lipa said as that group’s singer Jay Kay strolled out onstage, wearing a typically audacious hat. Patrick Walden, Babyshambles Guitarist, Dead at 46

Patrick Walden, guitarist in thePete Doherty-fronted bandBabyshambles, has died at the age of 46.

The British band announced Walden’s death Friday on social media; no cause of death was provided.

A post shared by Babyshambles (@babyshamblesuk)

“It is with deep regret and sadness that we share the news of Patrick Walden’s death,” Babyshambles — Doherty, Mick Whitnall, Drew McConnell and Adam Ficek — said in a joint statement. “We feel very fortunate to have known/loved and worked with him and we kindly ask for respect and privacy during these difficult times.”

After Doherty was booted from the Libertines (twice) in the early 2000s due to substance abuse issues, the guitarist formed Babyshambles as his musical outlet, and enlisted Walden as lead guitarist.

In addition to his guitar work on tracks like “Killamangiro” and “Albion,” Walden also served as co-writer on three tracks on the band’s 2005 albumDown in Albion, including their hit single “Fuck Forever.”Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

However, Walden’s tenure with Babyshambles was short-lived, as drug issues and a criminal case for assaulting his then-girlfriend (all charges were ultimately dismissed) led to his departure in 2005; he was replaced by Whitnall on the group’s second album, 2007’sShotter’s Nation.

While Walden remained in the Babyshambles orbit and occasionally performed with his former band mates, he never officially rejoined the group, which just this past March reunited at a Doherty solo gig. During that show, Doherty teased Babyshambles’ return later this year.

BTS’ Suga Pens Message to Fans as Military Service Officially Ends: ‘I Really Missed You’

Sugapenned a heartfelt message to fans on Saturday, the same day theBTSmember’s mandatory military service officially came to an end.

“Hello everyone, it’s good to see you. This is Suga. It’s been about two years. How have you all been?” the K-pop singer wrote in a statement posted on the fan community platform Weverse.

“As of today, I have been discharged from the military and am greeting you all for the first time in a long while. Because it’s a day I’ve been waiting for, and it’s also been such a long time, I pondered a lot about how to greet you. First, above all else, I wanted to sincerely thank my fans for waiting for me until now. I really missed you.”

Earlier this week, BTS’ label Big Hitannouncedthat Suga had finished his two-year military tenure as a social service agent, though the official date of completion was June 21.

“I think that over the past two years, I took time to think about myself,” Suga continued.

“In particular, I also felt that I needed to temporarily distance myself and step back from the work I’d been doing for a long time. Before, I’d only been racing forward without looking back on myself, but this time gave me the opportunity to reflect on myself once again.”

Although all seven members of BTS have now completed their mandatory military service, there are no immediate plans for the K-pop group’s reunion; Big Hit also refrained from any “special events” to celebrate Suga’s discharge, as “overcrowding can pose safety risks, and we sincerely request our fans not to visit the sites in person. Please convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts.”Trending StoriesDr. Demento, Madcap Radio DJ Who Launched Weird Al’s Career, Announces RetirementBonnaroo Pivots to Full Refunds for Canceled Festival, 'Not Announcing Future Dates'Treasured Public Lands on the Auction Block in Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’Benson Boone Can't Land the Backflip

In his message to fans, Suga also apologized for his the incident where he operated an electric scooter under the influence in Seoul in August 2024, “I apologize for disappointing you and giving you cause for concern through the incident from last year. What upset me most of all was the fact that I hurt the hearts of my fans.”

Suga concluded his note, “I love you. Everyone, I’ll share updates with you often.”
